in existence since 1968
as a General Contractor
and Construction Manager
with projects throughout
the North Shore and
Chicago areas. The firm
is led by James
Altounian, President, and
Todd Altounian, Vice
President.
As an established firm
specializing in
commercial and retail
construction including
new, renovations and
build-outs, Altounian has

knowledgeable staff,
consisting of Executive
Project Managers,
Administrative
Office/Accounting Staff,
Job Supervisors, Field
Superintendents and Field

Altounian Builders has a
philosophy of hands-on
project management' to
thank for its outstanding
reputation. Each project,
from large to small, has
a management team led by
either a Project
Executive or Job
Supervisor, depending on
the size and type of job.
It is the responsibility
of the Project Executive
or Job Supervisor, to
oversee a project from
pre-construction to final
completion. An awareness
of on-site progress,
administration,
cost-control and
communication between the
client and architect are
considered critical to a
successful project. Each
project Executive also
personally handles the
procurement of
sub-contractors.
Altounian Builders feels
very strongly that
sub-contractors are a
vital part of the
management team.
Sub-Contractors are
selected on the basis of
qualifications and
strengths as pertain to a
particular job, as well
as their ability to be
cost-efficient.
On-site Field
Superintendents are
overseen by either the
Project Executive or Job
Supervisor in
coordinating the day to
day progress of a
project. The Field
Superintendents are
trained and have
extensive hands-on
experience in commercial
construction. Their
responsibilities include
the on-site coordination
of sub-contractors and
management of Altounian
Builders' field force
employees. Most important
the Field Superintendent
is in charge of the
overall well being of the
job - safety -
organization of
site-monitoring
construction quality and
level of detail to meet
with plans and
specifications.
The control and quality
of each project is
ensured by Altounian
Builders employing some
of the most skilled Union
tradesmen in the area,
each with many years of
experience. Their
expertise ranges from
concrete, rough
carpentry, drywall, to
finish custom carpentry
and millwork. Every
tradesman is encouraged
to feel they are an
integral part of the team
and take great pride in
the professional work
they produce.
An Administrative Office
Staff, with in-house
accounting/computing
systems provides daily
up-dated job cost reports
and analysis. An
awareness of the
construction industry
coupled with
professional, highly
qualified employees
enables the
Administrative Office
Staff to compliment,
assist and make up the
balance of the Management
Team.
